About Dan Posney
Dan has been training in martial arts (Tae Kwon Do, Judo and Hapkido) for over 10 years. Dan received his hapkido training from Grand Master Dave Wheaton in Santa Barbara, CA. Master Wheaton's experience comes directly from Master Tae Hee Lee (Tae Kwon Do) and Master Song Ok Hong (hapkido). The training Dan and other black belts received is wide-ranged, deep and intensive. The photo above is during Dan's 1st Dan Black Belt test (performing a flying side-kick against 3 boards).
Several variations of kicks, punches, throws, take-downs, self-defense techniques, sparring (multiple attackers, continuous attack), visualization, and ground defense are practiced.
Anahata Martial Arts is the result of blending that training and the practices of meditation, yoga, self-realization and inner awareness.
TESTIMONIALS:
Dan is a really awesome, grounded yet deep, experienced, and yes, FUN Hapkido teacher. He is very engaging and has great focus and teaches it. He is a spiritual mentor to those who attend spreading his innate inspiration. I love that he weaves integral life values into the class, as well as teaching self-defense and how to deal with bullies and how not to be one. I would recommend him for anyone (children and adults alike) after seeing him interacting with my two boys (Zen and Owen). Dan is the most grooviest awesome Hapiko teacher! (and, I'm telling you - way super tricky at "Guru ...Says"). Your kids should be in this class.
Thank you, Dan! - Lucinda
Another great Hapkido class tonight. Thanks to Dan Posney for being a great teacher! I had no idea I'd like martial arts this much, but I'm finding that it helps me feel present in & conscious of my body (not just floating around in my mind/thoughts), which feels really good for me. And it's useful. It's nice to have a positive & empowering teacher, too; it would probably be a different experience otherwise.- Emily
